COMMUNITY MEETING ON INSURANCE RATE ISSUE TO BE HELD THIS FRIDAY
Glenwood Springs—Garfield County Commissioners will hold a public meeting this Friday, February 21st to discuss the higher insurance rates being charged to rural communities under the Affordable Care Act. The meeting will include presentations from Garfield County Attorney Frank Huftless, local business owners and insurance professionals. Citizens will also be allowed to share personal experiences as well as ideas and suggestions regarding the health insurance rates. The meeting will be held in the county building on 8th Street in Glenwood Springs at 9am, this Friday.
AVALANCHE NEAR INDEPENDENCE PASS KILLS TWO, INJURES THREE
Leadville—Two skiers from Wisconsin were killed in Saturday’s massive avalanche near Independence Pass. Three other skiers suffered serious injuries in the slide and were taken to Aspen Valley Hospital. The avalanche occurred outside Leadville and according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, rescue crews found the bodies of 32 year old Justin Lentz and 34 year old Jarrard Law, both of Portage, Wisconsin near Independence Pass yesterday afternoon.
