Glenwood Springs–Glenwood Springs will have fireworks over Two Rivers Park on the Fourth of July after all. Mayor Matt Steckler announced at last night’s meeting that the local business community raised about nine thousand dollars to pay for the show. The city will come up with the other nine grand.

Glenwood Springs–The city council voted to extend a moratorium on new medical marijuana dispensaries for another year. The 4 to 3 vote came on the heels of a statewide moratorium signed by Governor Hickenlooper.

Rifle–The Colorado River is running higher and faster between New Castle and Parachute. Emergency officials in the county are keeping a close eye on water levels. They say people living near the river are prepared to head to higher ground when the time comes.

Glenwood Springs–20th street in Glenwood Springs will be tied up for most of next week while crews do some work on the drive-through lane at the new Taco Bell restaurant. That phase of the remodel project will begin Monday morning and traffic on 20th will only be affected during the day.

Glenwood Springs–A wrong way driver between Glenwood Springs and Rifle gave Colorado’s Secretary of State quite a scare yesterday. Scott Gessler says he was on his way back from Grand Junction when he saw the oncoming car going west on the eastbound side of I-70. He reported the the driver, who was ticketed.
