GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – The Colorado State Patrol says a
semi jackknifed on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon and that 40
gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the road from a punctured fuel
tank. No injuries were reported. The crash occurred early yesterday
morning. The State Patrol says eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed
for several hours. They reopened after the investigation but closed
again Sunday afternoon because of other crashes.

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) – Attorneys for Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife have
prevailed in keeping a celebrity-news website from airing her
appearance in a Colorado courtroom on drug and assault charges. The
Aspen Times reports that a Pitkin County judge has denied a request
from TMZ to air the Jan. 23 proceeding for Brooke Mueller, saying
it would “unduly detract from the solemnity, decorum and dignity
of the court.”
DENVER (AP) – Legislation granting Colorado same-sex couples
similar rights to married couples will be considered again this
year. The topic was among the most emotional in the Legislature
last year. Gay couples pleaded for equal rights before a
Republican-led committee voted down the idea. The bill would enable
gay couples to be involved in their partner’s medical decisions,
enhance inheritance and parental rights, and make health insurance
coverage easier.

DENVER (AP) – Democrats in the Colorado House want the state to
spend more money to support business startups. Democrats say
they’ll propose three grant additions when the Legislature convenes
for the year Wednesday. Democrats want to boost funding for the
state’s 14 Small Business Development Centers. They also want to
add money for a tax credit to encourage investment in startups and
to give research universities money for technology research.
