Glenwood Springs–The Glenwood Springs City Council will consider canceling this year’s 4th of July fireworks show due to extreme fire danger. More towns and cities across the state are calling off shows. The council is also expected to approve an ordinance allowing residents to raise chickens in their backyards. Steamboat Springs–The commerical tubing season is over in Routt County. Officials say the Yampa River is too low to continue. Rafting companies say this season has been horrible because of the low water levels.
Glenwood Springs–White River National Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams says he sympathizes with the people near Fort Collins and the firefighters battling the High Park Fire. He says people on the western slope could be hit anytime with a wildfire and everyone should be prepared with evacuation plans.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) – A bug invasion blamed on warmer weather is causing problems on Colorado’s western slope.
The bugs are clogging radiators, damaging cars and irritating residents.
Colorado State University entomologist Bob Hammon says the invasion is being caused by last year’s plentiful food supply and a milder winter.
