STATEWIDE FIRE DANGER WORSENING
Aspen—The City of Aspen is the latest Colorado community to cancel it’s 4th of July fireworks show. Due to the extreme fire danger, Aspen Fire Chief Ed Van Walraven says it’s the wisest thing to do. He says considering the current weather conditions and the bleak forecast for more hot, dry weather, fireworks would not be advisable. Van Walraven says it was a joint decision between all of the emergency response teams in town as well as the Aspen Chamber Resort Association. ACRA President and CEO Debbie Braun says cancelling the fireworks show is disappointing but safety is the most important thing to consider. She says Aspen will still be jumping on Independence Day with lots of activities, festivals, food and concerts for the whole family.
