DENVER (AP) – Marijuana advocates are trying again to add
post-traumatic stress disorder to the list of conditions for which
doctors can recommend medical marijuana under Colorado law.
Activists who delivered petitions to the state board of health
yesterday say PTSD affects veterans and can be treated with medical
marijuana.
DENVER (AP) – A new Colorado law requires sex offenders to
register with local authorities even if they don’t have a fixed
residence. The law sets up a system for sex offenders to verify
their registration with law enforcement in their jurisdiction every
one or three months. The bill was among those that Gov. John
Hickenlooper signed last week.
LAS VEGAS (AP) – A federal judge in Las Vegas has delayed
sentencing for a former Navy SEAL who was dropped from the military
after his conviction on conspiracy and arms trafficking charges.
Nicholas Bickle’s attorney said yesterday the postponement will let
him review the conviction record. Convicted former co-defendant
Richard Paul of Durango faces sentencing days after Bickle.
FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) – A California soldier assigned to Fort
Carson has been killed in Afghanistan. The Defense Department said
yesterday that 23-year-old Spc. Tofiga J. Tautolo of Wilmington,
Calif., died May 27 from injuries he suffered when his vehicle hit
an improvised bomb. He was a member of the 4th Infantry Division’s
4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Carson. The military says Tautolo
served four deployments – two in Iraq and two in Afghanistan.
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) – Xerox says it’s bringing 700 jobs to
Greeley when it opens a new call center. The company announced
yesterday that it will employ 350 permanent workers and another 350
on a temporary basis who will work through early 2013. The Greeley
Tribune reports that the Norwalk, Conn.-based company will lease an
88,000-square-foot facility in west Greeley for the customer
service center. Xerox says it plans to begin operations by
Saturday.
