NFL IDENTITY THEFT

IF YOU’RE GOING TO ATTEMPT TO STEAL SOMEONE’S IDENTITY, IT’S PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA TO NOT PICK SOMEONE WHO IS VERY WELL KNOWN TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. ASPEN POLICE SAY THAT A MIAMI MAN WAS ARRESTED LAST FRIDAY AFTER TRYING TO CONVINCE EMPLOYEES AT THE LOUIS VUITTON STORE THAT HE WAS FORMER NFL RECEIVER CHAD JOHNSON – KNOWN TO NFL FANS AS CHAD OCHOCINCO.

LOUIS VUITTON REQUIRES CUSTOMERS TO HAVE A PROFILE ID WHENEVER MAKING A PURCHASE, AND POLICE SAY THAT 25-YEAR-OLD MERVIN CABE ATTEMPTED TO USE JOHNSON’S ID TO PURCHASE MORE THAN $18,000 IN MERCHANDISE. JOHNSON IS KNOWN FOR WEARING CLOTHING FROM THE HIGH-END LUXURY GOODS RETAILER. CABE TRIED TO USE A CREDIT CARD FOR THE PURCHASE, WHICH WAS DECLINED TWICE – BUT WAS THEN SUCCESSFUL WHEN HE USED AN APPLE PAY ACCOUNT ON HIS CELLPHONE.

WHEN CABE’S STORY STARTED TO FALL APART, HE REPORTEDLY TOLD ASPEN POLICE THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO TAKE HIM TO JAIL BECAUSE HE HAD “DONE SOMETHING BAD”.

CABE WAS CHARGED WITH TWO FELONIES – IDENTITY THEFT AND UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A FINANCIAL TRANSATION DEVICE.
