Rumors of a racially-motivated display at Coal Ridge High School this week are so far unfounded, according to Garfield RE-2 Director of Districtwide Services, Theresa Hamilton.
The rumors began to spread on Facebook and were brought to KMTS’ attention Friday morning. Hamilton says an investigation by District officials and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was immediately begun. “Garfield Re-2 and Coal Ridge High School view the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. Garfield Re-2 and CRHS administration conducted a thorough internal investigation, including reviewing building video camera footage, and found nothing that would substantiate such a rumor,” Hamilton said.
Still, Hamilton says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 970-665-0207.
