Prosecutors handling the case against Mark Redwine for the 2012 murder of his 13-year-old son Dylan declined to pinpoint any definitive motive for the killing during a press conference Tuesday.
La Plata County District Attorney Christian Champage mentioned the existence of compromising photos of Mark Redwine which were discovered by his son, but he declined to elaborate on the photos or to confirm that the discovery of the photos was the specific motive in Dylan’s murder. According to court documents connected with Redwine’s divorce from Dylan’s mother, Elaine Hall, the photos depicted an adult Redwine wearing a diaper and consuming human waste. In media interviews, Hall has said the pictures caused serious contention between Dylan and his father, and she feels the pictures definitely played a part in the tragedy.
The grand jury indictment against Redwine says that the boy’s blood was found in Redwine’s home, and a cadaver dog picked up the scent of a body on the father’s clothes and in his truck.
Redwine was arrested last weekend in Washington State and is currently awaiting an extradition hearing that would return him to Colorado to face charges of 2nd-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.
