DENVER (AP) – Mark Trumbo hit a pair of three-run homers to set
a career high with six RBIs and the Los Angeles Angels beat the
Colorado Rockies 10-8 Sunday for their ninth consecutive victory on
the road. Torii Hunter added a two-run homer and scored three times to
help Los Angeles complete a three-game sweep. The Rockies welcome the Oakland A’s to Coors Field tomorrow.
PARIS (AP) – Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL’) stands alone
in French Open history.
The Spaniard wrapped up a record-breaking seventh title in the
clay court Grand Slam tournament 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 over Novak
Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich).
The men’s final was finished today after rain forced a mid-match
postponement yesterday.
Nadal resumed the match by breaking Djokovic in the first game
to even the final set at 2-all.
After another brief rain delay with Nadal ahead at 5-4, he
finished off the historic win when Djokovic doubled faulted on
match point. That ended the the top-ranked player in the world’s
quest to become first man in 43 years to hold all four Grand Slam
titles at the same time.
Nadal’s win breaks a tie with Bjorn Borg for the most in French
Open history. He’s now won 11 Grand Slam titles.

Kings try to wrap up title again
LOS ANGELES (AP)- It’s back to Los Angeles tonight for Game 6 of
the Stanley Cup finals. The Kings will be trying to wrap up the
series against New Jersey for the third straight game.
A Los Angeles win and the celebration will begin for the first
Stanley Cup title in franchise history. A Devils victory will send
the series back to New Jersey for Game 7 Wednesday night.
The Devils have battled back to keep the series alive after
dropping the first three games. They are trying to join the 1942
Toronto Maple Leafs as the only team to rebound from a 3-0 deficit
to win the Stanley Cup.
MLB-SCHEDULE
Angels, Dodgers open series
UNDATED (AP) – The battle of L.A. highlights a very limited
interleague schedule in major league baseball tonight.
The NL West-leading Dodgers welcome the Angels to their park.
Despite the short hop from Anaheim, it will be a road game for the
Angels and they’ve been pretty good away from home lately. They
take a nine-game road winning streak into tonight’s showdown.
But extending that streak won’t be easy. The Dodgers go with
lefty Chris Capuano who sports an 8-2 record and 2.82 ERA. Garrett
Richards takes the hill for the Angels after wrapping up his first
major league win the last time out.
The Yankees hit the road to take on Atlanta in a meeting of
teams that have won eight of their last ten. New York has scheduled
Ivan (ee-VAHN’) Nova who has a 7-2 mark. Fellow righty Randall
Delgado goes for the Braves.
Toronto trots out seven-game winner Brandon Morrow to take on
the NL East-leading Washington Nationals tonight. Morrow tops the
major with three shutouts including in his last start against the
White Sox. Washington goes with Edwin Jackson.
The only other game on the schedule, suddenly slumping Miami
tries to snap a six-game losing streak when they host Boston.
