A wood workship near Carbondale is being described as a “total loss” after an early morning fire, but officials say it could have been worse had firefighters not responded so quickly and attacked the fire so aggressively.
According a press release from the Carbondale Fire Department, the fire on Thompson Creek Road two and a half miles west of Carbondale was reported around four o’clock this morning. About half of the structure was in flames when the first responders arrived. It took about 20 minutes for the fire to be brought under control.
Eighteen firefighters responded to the blaze with seven pieces of equipment. Carbondale Fire Chief Rob Goodwin says there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
