Osweiler throws for 2 TDs, Broncos beat Bears 17-15
CHICAGO (AP) — Brock Osweiler threw for two touchdowns while starting for the injured Peyton Manning, and the Denver Broncos stopped Jeremy Langford on a 2-point conversion run in the final minute to beat the Chicago Bears 17-15 on Sunday.Langford scored on a 2-yard run with 24 seconds left to cap a 65-yard drive. But he ran into a crowd on a conversion attempt and the Broncos (8-2) escaped with a narrow victory.Osweiler completed 20 of 27 passes for 250 yards with five-time MVP Manning staying back in Denver because of injuries to his foot, ribs and shoulder.Ronnie Hillman ran for 102 yards, and the AFC West-leading Broncos (8-2) beat former coach John Fox after dropping two in a row.Osweiler threw a 48-yard touchdown to Demaryius Thomas on Denver’s first possession and a 10-yarder to Cody Latimer early in the fourth quarter.

DENVER (AP) — Klay Thompson scored 21 points and the Golden State Warriors tied the best start in NBA history, beating the Denver Nuggets 118-105 on Sunday night to move to 15-0.Golden State matches the start of the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and the ’93-94 Houston Rockets. The Warriors can break the record Tuesday at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.Here’s more history: The Warriors surpassed the ’57-58 Boston Celtics for the best start by a defending champion.Thompson hit a 3-pointer with 2:08 remaining in the second quarter and Golden State never trailed again. The reserves built up a sizeable lead and allowed Stephen Curry to rest the entire fourth quarter. He had 19 points, the first time this season Curry hasn’t reached 20.Darrell Arthur had 21 points for the Nuggets, who’ve lost three straight.

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — Hayden Graham had 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, and Air Force beat Robert Morris 64-52 on Sunday.Graham needed three assists in the final 6:17 to record Air Force’s first triple-double in program history.Air Force went on a 14-2 run, with scoring from Ryan Manning, Zach Moer and Trevor Lyons, for a 55-41 lead with 4:15 remaining.Lyons finished with 14 points and Moer added 12 points with seven boards for Air Force (3-1). The Falcons shot just 38 percent from the field but outrebounded Robert Morris 47-36.Rodney Pryor had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Robert Morris (0-4). Elijah Minnie added 10 points and eight rebounds.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Janee Thompson scored 17 points and seven assists and No. 13 Kentucky got off to a fast start to defeat Colorado 86-61 on Sunday.The Wildcats (4-0) had a 14-0 run over the last five minutes of the first quarter for a 22-7 lead and then scored the last eight of the first half to make it 42-21. Defensively they scored 16 points off 16 turnovers.Maci Morris added 13 points and three players had 10, including Evelyn Akhator, who had nine rebounds.Kentucky hit 7 of 10 on 3-pointers in the second half to finish 11 of 18.Kennedy Leonard had 13 of her 15 points in the second half for the Buffaloes (2-1), who gave coach Linda Lappe her 100th career win in their last previous outing. Leonard, a freshman also had 10 assists.

BOULDER (AP) — George King scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half, Josh Scott had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Colorado rallied to beat Nebraska-Omaha 87-82 on Sunday afternoon.Tre’Shaun Fletcher added 12 of his 15 points in the second half for the Buffaloes (3-1), who came back from down 13 for their third consecutive win.Devin Patterson had 19 points and Jake White added 16 for the Mavericks (2-2), who looked to have an upset brewing in the program’s first game against a team from the Pac-12 Conference.In the final 30 seconds they made one more push too, cutting Colorado’s lead to 83-80 on a 3 by Patterson. But thanks to a pair of free throws from Wesley Gordon and Dominique Collier, and a humongous blocked shot by Scott, the Buffs held on.

FORT COLLINS (AP) — Gian Clavell had 21 points and 12 rebounds and Colorado State finished strong Sunday to defeat Oakland 95-89 in part of the Corpus Christi Coastal Classic.The Rams made seven of their last 10 shots while the Golden Grizzlies were just three of their last 15 until hitting two late 3-pointers.Joe De Ciman added 18 points, John Gillon 17 and Antwan Scott 15 for Colorado State (3-0), which made all 11 of its free throws in the second half to finish 23 of 28.
