The western slope will be proudly represented at the state tournament
this weekend. At the 4A level, three Glenwood Demons qualified for
state at last weekend’s regionals at Mesa State; Chris Ayala, Michael
Mills and Miguel Vega. At the 3A regionals at Salida High School,
several 3A grapplers punched their tickets to the Pepsi Center including
8 from Rifle; Larry Schmueser, Brandon Kittle, Keaton Deere, AJ Cordova,
Kyle Shaw, Frankie Ruelas, Alex Copeland and Coy Zang. Two Coal
Ridge Titans are headed to state; Neal Schultz and Devon Godeski. The
Grand Valley Cardinals are sending seven wrestlers to state including
Emilio Ruelas, Jerrod Busch, David Witt, Will Hinkle, Michael Salazar,
Miguel Valles and George Stagg.

Slope championship with victories over the Moffat County
Bulldogs tomorrow night at home.
