Pepsi Center–20 wrestlers from the local area took to the mats during day
one of the state high school tournament at the Pepsi Center…9 of them
won and are moving on to the championship quarterfinals. The winners
from Glenwood Springs were Miguel Vega and Chris Ayala. From Rifle,
Larry Schmuesser and Kyle Shaw. Both Coal Ridge grapplers, Devon
Godeski and Neal Schultz pinned their first round opponents. Three Grand
Valley Cardinals were winners including; David Witt, Emilio Ruela and Jerrod
Busch.

Aspen–The Aspen Skiers and the Rifle Bears split a pair of games last
night in Aspen. The Lady Bears defeated Aspen, 71-33 while the Skiers
beat the Bears in the boy’s game, 49-39.
Gypsum–The Glenwood Demons boys and girls wrap up the regular season
tonight in Gypsum against the EagleValley Devils. The girls tip off at 6 while
the boys play at 7:30. Catch both games live on KMTS. The playoff brackets
will be released by CHSAA this Sunday night.
