Minor League Team Could Move to Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) – The city of Grand Junction says it is in talks with Monfort Investment Group about a minor league baseball franchise.

The investment group is led by Colorado Rockies general partners Dick and Charlie Monfort.

City Manager Laurie Kadrich confirmed the discussions in an announcement Monday. But city officials said no details would be discussed until the matter is scheduled on a City Council agenda.

The city says talks are expected to continue until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the City Council will meet in a closed executive session to hear a report.

Speculation has been bubbling since Monfort Investment Group bought the Casper Ghosts of the Pioneer League earlier this year that the minor league team might leave Casper, Wyoming.
