HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER
Palisade—The Glenwood Demons began Western Slope conference play with a 4-2 victory over the Bulldogs at Palisade High School Monday afternoon. The Demons scored 3 goals in the second half to secure the victory and improve to 2 and 1 overall.
In other Western Slope soccer this afternoon, the Coal Ridge Titans take on Eagle Valley in Gypsum today and Rifle plays the Grand Junction JV squad on the road. Both games are set for 4 o’clock.
VOLLEYBALL
Coal Ridge, a state tournament qualifier for the second straight year in 2014, will take on Battle Mountain tonight at 6:30 in Edwards.

BRONCOS CUT ROSTER DOWN TO 75
ENGLEWOOD (AP) – The Denver Broncos traded offensive tackle Chris Clark to Houston on Monday, released veteran linebacker Reggie Walker and placed rookie tight end Jeff Hauerman on injured reserved.The Clark trade for a seventh-round pick in 2016 is contingent on his passing a physical.Hauerman tore an ACL one week after he was drafted, but the Broncos couldn’t put him on IR until the 75-man roster cut. Otherwise, he would have had to go through waivers first.The Broncos also waived fourth-year running back Jeremy Stewart, quarterback Zac Dysert, punter Spencer Lanning, safety Ross Madison, tight end Jake Murphy and linebacker Chase Vaughn.
Three rookies were cut: cornerback Tevrin Brandon, guard Andre Davis and fullback/tight end Joe Don Duncan.
ROCKIES BEAT D-BACKS
DENVER (AP) – Ben Paulsen hit a two-out, two-run single and the Colorado Rockies rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 on Monday night. Charlie Blackmon had three hits and finished a home run short of the cycle for the Rockies, who snapped a three-game home losing streak. The Rockies were held in check by Arizona starter Robbie Ray and two relievers before rallying in the ninth off closer Brad Ziegler (0-3). Nolan Arenado hit a two-run double off the top of the fence in left to pull the Rockies within a run. One out later Ziegler’s errant throw to first on DJ LeMahieu’s comebacker put the winning run at second. Nick Hundley walked to load the bases, finishing Ziegler. Matt Reynolds came on and Paulsen sent an 0-2 pitch up the middle to give Colorado the win. It was his second walk-off hit of the season.
