BRONCOS WIN A THRILLER IN KC
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)- Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos pulled off their first fourth-quarter magic act of the 2015 NFL season.The Broncos improbably scored two touchdowns in a nine-second span of the final minute to stun their arch-rival Kansas City Chiefs 31-24 that left KC fans in disbelief at Arrowhead Stadium.After Manning’s 19-yard TD pass to Emmanuel Sanders tied the game with 36 seconds left, the backbreaker cam on the next play. Bradley Roby scooped up fumble by Jamaal Charles and ran 21 yards for the winning score just nine seconds later.
Manning completed 26 of 45 passes for 256 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for the 2-0 Broncos. Manning is 14-1 lifetime against the Chiefs.The Chiefs are 1-1. Charles led the Chiefs with 125 rushing yards on 21 carries, one TD. Charles had two fumbles as the Chiefs committed five costly turnovers. The Broncos’ next game is another tough road test against the Detroit Lions, Sunday night, September 27th.

The NL East-leading Mets head into the game with a modest two-game losing streak after winning eight in a row. The Yankees are 3 1-2 games back of AL East-leading Toronto, but are ahead in the wildcard race.
CHICAGO (AP) – The Cubs and Cardinals open a weekend series at Wrigley Field that pits playoff contenders against each other. St. Louis leads the NL Central by 4 1-2 games over the Pirates, from whom the Cubs just took three of four. That moved Chicago within 6 1-2 games of the Cardinals.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Zach Greinke (GREHN’-kee) takes his major league-leading 1.61 ERA into his start for the Dodgers at home against Pittsburgh tonight. It’s the start of an 11-game road trip for the Pirates, who are battling for a playoff spot. Pittsburgh has lost three in a row.
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) – The Sprint Cup Chase gets going this weekend with qualifying on tap today for the opening race at Chicagoland. Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson go into the 16-driver shootout over 10 races leading the pack after four wins each this season.
ST. LEON-ROT, Germany (AP) – Europe and the United States are tied at 2-2 at the Solheim Cup following the morning’s alternate-shot foursome matches. Morgan Pressel (PREH’-sehl) and Paula Creamer teamed to earn one point for the Americans, while Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson got the other.
