Buena Vista—The Glenwood Demons boy’s team had a perfect score of 15 by claiming 1st through 5th place. The Glenwood girl’s cross country team also won at Buena Vista.

In Denver, Alex Tanguay scored at 1:18 of overtime to lift the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Conner Bleackley, Mikko Rantanen, Jack Skille and Nick Holden scored in regulation for the Avalanche. Semyon Varlamov and Roman Will each gave up two goals. Varlamov had 15 saves in his nearly 40 minutes and Will stopped nine shots. Jiri Sekac scored two goals, and Julius Nattinen and Chris Wagner added one apiece for the Ducks. John Gibson finished with 26 saves.
DENVER (AP) – Starling Marte drove in two runs and the Pittsburgh Pirates closed in on their third straight playoff berth by beating the Colorado Rockies 6-3 Tuesday night. The Pirates reduced their magic number to one for securing at least an NL wild card.
