TORONTO (AP) — Will Barton came off the bench to score 22 points and Danilo Gallinari added another 21 as the Denver Nuggets stopped an eight-game losing streak, beating the Toronto Raptors 106-105 Thursday night.Denver avoided its first nine-game losing streak since the 2002-03 season, when it dropped 14 in a row.Joffrey Lauvergne had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets.DeMar DeRozan scored a Raptors’ season-high 34 points and Kyle Lowry had 16.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Nick Faust scored a career-high 27 points and Long Beach State beat Colorado State 83-77 on Thursday night.Faust, who played three years at Maryland, had five 3-pointers. A.J. Spencer and Travis Hammonds added 14 points each with Hammonds grabbing 10 rebounds.Two free throws by Gian Clavell got the Rams within three, 78-75, with 55 seconds left. After a 49ers free throw, Faust made a steal and passed to Gabe Levin for a dunk and an 81-75 advantage with 14 seconds left.Long Beach (4-4) snapped a four-game losing streak while the Rams (5-2) lost their second straight.

AVALANCHE-RANGERS

NEW YORK (AP) — Chris Wagner and Matt Duchesne scored 4:16 apart in the second period to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers on Thursday night.Semyon Varlamov stopped 24 shots as Colorado won consecutive games for only the second time this season. The Avalanche, who played the three New York-area teams in a four-day stretch, were coming off a 2-1 win over New Jersey on Tuesday night.Colorado’s longest winning streak this season was three games between Nov. 10-14.Oscar Lindberg scored and Antti Raanta stoped 16 shots as the Rangers lost for the fifth time in six games (1-4-1).
