Two of the National League’s ERA leaders will square off with Francisco Liriano scheduled to pitch for the Pirates and Shelby Miller set for St. Louis.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Dodgers take a seven-game winning streak into their home games against the Mets tonight and that has helped L.A. to a 39-8 record since June 22. Pitching has been a key element to the recent winning ways, with Los Angeles starters going 13-1 with a 1.72 ERA in the last 18 games.
ST. PETERSBURGH, Fla. (AP) – Slumping Tampa Bay turns to David Price to snap them out of a six-game losing streak when they host Seattle tonight. The left-hander has allowed just two earned runs in his last three starts but has only been able to earn one win over that span.
NEW YORK (AP) – Ivan (ee-VAHN’) Nova will try to continue his recent stingy pitching when he gets the start for the Yankees tonight at home against the Angels. The right-hander has 0.86 ERA in his last three starts but has only managed one win.
WASHINGTON (AP) – San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum will face off with 13-game winner Jordan Zimmermann tonight when Washington hosts the Giants. Lincecum is 0-2 in his last three starts since tossing a no-hitter last month, but he’s got a 1.23 ERA over that stretch. Zimmerman has seen his ERA go from 2.28 to 3.10 in his last seven starts.
