CARBONDALE SET TO HOST BICYCLE TOUR OF COLORADO

Carbondale—The Bicycle Tour of Colorado is coming to Carbondale. Race organizers expect cyclists to arrive Monday afternoon around 2.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCUT

Glenwood Springs—A huge field of competitors is expected for the 36th annual Strawberry Shortcut this Sunday morning. Three events are scheduled beginning with the 10k at 7 o’clock, the 5k at 8:15 and the 1 mile fun run at 9:30.

Washington, D.C.—The Rockies lost to the Nationals 5 to 1 last night behind Jordan Zimmerman’s six hitter. Zimmerman allowed an unearned run in earning his 10th game of the season. The Rockies have now lost four in a row and have dropped to .500 for the first time since April 2nd.

MIAMI (AP) – The party continues in Miami as fans of the Heat celebrate another championship. The LeBron James-led team racked up its second straight title last night with a 95-88 win over the Spurs. For his efforts, James was named series MVP.

CHICAGO (AP) – The Stanley Cup Final has changed venue. After two games in Boston, the best-of-seven series, which is tied at 2-2, is back in Chicago for Game 5 tomorrow. After winning the first game in front of their fans, the Blackhawks dropped Game 2 before splitting the two games in Boston.

LONDON (AP) – Play at Wimbledon starts Monday and today the draw was announced. On the men’s side seven-time champion Roger Federer could face Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL’) in the quarterfinals. In the women’s draw, five-time champion and top-seeded Serena Williams will open against Mandy Minella of Luxembourg.

CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) – Second-round play in the PGA’s Travelers Championship is underway in Cromwell, Conn. The leader after 18 holes was Charlie Hoffman, who had a pair of eagles in a bogey-free 9-under 61. Hunter Mahan (MAY’-han) had eight birdies on his card to shoot a 62 and trails by one shot.

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) – Abby Wambach (WAHM’-bahk) now holds the record for most goals scored by a woman. She broke Mia Hamm’s record for international career goals last night with four goals in the first half of a 5-0 win over South Korea. The record was 158 but is now 160.
