DENVER (AP) – Patrick Marleau had a hat trick, Thomas Greiss
stopped 35 shots and the San Jose Sharks beat the Colorado
Avalanche 4-1 on Sunday night.
Joe Pavelski also scored, Mark-Edouard Vlasic had three assists
and Joe Thornton added two assists for the Sharks, who have won
three in a row and five of their last six.
Matt Duchene (DOO’-shayn) had a goal and Jean-Sebastien Giguere
(zhee-GEHR’) had 14 saves for Colorado, which fell to 3-7 on home
ice.
SAN JUAN, P.R. (AP) – Carlon Brown scored 23 points and Colorado
defeated Western Michigan 81-76 in the seventh-place game of the
Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament on Sunday.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) – Johnny Moran shot 6 for 6 from the
free-throw line and finished with 17 points to lead Northern Iowa
past Northern Colorado 78-69 on Sunday.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired
utilityman Ty Wigginton and cash from the Colorado Rockies in
exchange for a player to be named later or cash.
Wigginton batted .242 with 15 homers and 47 RBIs in 130 games
last season. He played third base, first base, left field and right

NEW YORK (AP) – The Lions and Saints are moving to prime time.
The Dec. 4 game between Detroit and New Orleans will be played
on “Sunday Night Football” on NBC. The Colts-Patriots matchup was
originally in that slot, but the NFL had previously announced that
it was shifting to earlier in the day under the league’s flexible
scheduling policy.
On Monday, the NFL said that the meeting between two NFC playoff
contenders would take its place.
Also in Week 13, Ravens-Browns moves to 4:05 p.m. EST on CBS,
while Broncos-Vikings shifts to 1 p.m. on Fox.
The NFL can use flex scheduling to ensure meaningful matchups
Sunday night starting in Week 10.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – The Buffalo Bills downward spiral
continued Sunday in a 35-8 blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins, and
it doesn’t look like they’ll be recovering anytime soon.
With injuries mounting and offensive production dwindling, the
Bills (5-5) seem a shell of what they were when they got off to a
4-1 start. Buffalo again lacked any spark in losing for the third
straight time.
They’ll limp to New York to play the Jets (5-5) Sunday with
another round of injuries that is depleting an already thin depth
chart.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian
Peterson has a high ankle sprain that will put him in a walking
boot, leaving his availability for Sunday’s game at Atlanta
question.
Coach Leslie Frazier said Monday that Peterson has a Grade 1
sprain, the least severe of the three categories. But Peterson will
wear the boot for a few days and won’t try to practice until Friday
to determine if he’ll be able to play against the Falcons.
DOVER, Del. (AP) – A Delaware bankruptcy judge has canceled a
hearing on a request by Fox Sports to delay consideration of the
Los Angeles Dodgers’ plan to sell media rights to future games.
The judge was to hear arguments Tuesday on whether to postpone a
Nov. 30 hearing on approval of the Dodgers’ proposed sale process.
But the hearing was canceled Monday without explanation.
