Peach Valley—The Coal Ridge Titans were dominant through the first two rounds of the State 3A playoffs knocking off Alexander Dawson 8 to nothing and clobbering Sheridan 6-nil in the second round. Coal Ridge will travel to Denver this Friday to battle 3rd seeded Classical Academy in a semi-final game.

Aspen—The Aspen Skiers earned the 13th seeding from the Colorado High School Athletic Association and will be on the road to play the 4th seeded Faith Christian Eagles. Kick off from Arvada is set for noon this Saturday, November 2nd. KMTS will be on hand with live coverage.
BRONCOS RUIN SHANAHAN’S HOMECOMING WITH LOPSIDED WIN
DENVER (AP) – Peyton Manning overcame four turnovers and Denver scored the last 38 points Sunday in a come-from-behind 45-21 victory over former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan and his new team, the Washington Redskins.Manning finished with 354 yards and four touchdown passes to offset his three interceptions and lost fumble.His first two turnovers led to points that gave the Redskins (2-5) a 21-7 lead early in the third quarter. From there, Manning led the Broncos (7-1) on two long scoring drives, then the go-ahead score on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Knowshon Moreno.Robert Griffin III finished with 132 yards passing, one score and two interceptions for Washington before hurting his left knee.Griffin’s replacement, Kirk Cousins, threw an interception that Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie returned 75 yards for Denver’s final points.
RED HOT AVS WIN AGAIN
DENVER (AP) – Paul Stastny had a goal and an assist in the third period, Semyon Varlamov stopped 24 shots, and the streaking Colorado Avalanche beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Sunday night. Matt Duchene and Jan Hejda also scored for the Avalanche, who under coach Patrick Roy are 10-1 for the first time in franchise history. Gabriel Landeskog added two assists. Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little had a goal and assist each for the Jets. The Avalanche trailed 2-1 entering the third but came out strong at the start of the period. They put nine quick shots on goalie Al Montoya before Hejda tied it with 12:47 left on an assist by Stastny. Stastny netted the winner with 5:28 left to give Colorado its fourth straight victory.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Camilo Sanvezzo scored three times to give him an MLS-best 22 goals, and the Vancouver Whitecaps closed out their season with a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Sunday night.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Kenny Perry made a 10-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff with Bernhard Langer to win the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship. Perry and Langer each shot 5-under 67’s to finish at 13-under-par in regulation.
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) – Jeff Gordon has pulled into the Sprint Cup championship picture with a win at Martinsville Speedway, his first of the season. Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson left Martinsville tied atop the standings with three races remaining, and Gordon sits 27 points behind the leaders.
